The lion of the Tribe of Judah is Roaring over you...

The night I broke free of depression was a moment I will never forget. It was months of relentless fighting up until that very moment, I had been weary, exhausted and hopeless, but in that moment I can still hear the mighty roar of a lion as it rose up from within me and burst forth out of me. It was frightening. I had never made a sound like that before and it shook both Nate and I by surprise but we knew it was not my own but the supernatural roar of the Lion Himself. It shook the ground from beneath me and suddenly I heard the sounds of sheer peril and shrieks of terror of what I knew to be the demons that had been tormenting me for an agonizing year. I heard their screams disappear into the night and I will never forget the words that came out of my mouth next; “You will pay! For every second that you tormented me, you will pay!” That moment always makes me think of my favorite quote from C.S Lewis’, ‘Narnia’;

“Wrong will be right, when Aslan comes in sight, At the sound of his roar, sorrows will be no more, When he bares his teeth, winter meets its death, And when he shakes his mane, we shall have spring again.”

As Nate and I have been writing our latest workshop on this very subject, I have felt such a strong determination in my spirit from the Father Himself that we are entering a season where we will be watching chains of bondage literally break and fall to the ground as His roar resounds over His people. Where many have been in bondage to depression, anxiety, infirmity and all sorts of captivities, God’s Spirit is moving and breathing at a rapid pace, breathing new life and hope over areas that you thought were lost or dead and breaking the bars of iron that have held you back from your purpose and calling.

In 1 Samuel 17, we read the unforgettable story of David and Goliath. I have been drawn to the first verse of this chapter and I want to point out why. It reads; ‘Now the Philistines gathered their armies for battle and were assembled at Socoh, which belongs to Judah; and they camped between Socoh and Azekah, in Ephes-dammim.’ What sounds like a group of tongue twisting names is in actuality a very significant verse, let me show you why. The Israelites enemy, the Philistines, encamped in a place called Ephes-Dammim, which BELONGED to Judah, in-between Socoh and Azekah. The meaning of these places that the Philistines camped is vitally important. If we look at the Hebrew definitions of these names, we see that Socoh means ‘Tabernacles’, Azekah means ‘Strength of Walls’ and Ephes-Dammim means ‘Effusion or the pouring forth of blood.’

When David saw where the Philistines were encamped, in-between the places called ‘Tabernacles’ and ‘Strength of walls’, on the land of the ‘Pouring forth of Blood’, he knew that the Philistines were not only opposing the Israelites but defying God Himself. How did he know that? The Hebrew language is deeply rooted in complex definitions, each word carries weight and significant meaning. David would have understood that Socoh, the place of the ‘Tabernacles’ was representative of the very dwelling place of God’s presence. God’s presence was the Israelites strength, courage and direction. Azekah, defined as the ‘Strength of Walls’ describes the strength of God’s walls as a fortress of hope. Zechariah 9:12 says, ‘Return to your fortress, you prisoners of hope; even now I announce that I will restore twice as much to you.’ In God’s presence, you are surrounded by the strength of His walls. However, these walls can also take on a different definition, in that they are the very place the enemy attempts to set up his own strength of walls, or strongholds (which I will explain in a moment.)

Ephes-Dammim, meaning, ‘the pouring forth of the blood,’ is a place representative of the sacrificial blood of an animal to atone for the sins of the Israelites. It was no mistake that the Philistines set up their camp in these specifically sacred places, sacred especially to God Himself.  These locations where the Philistines camped are in actuality a picture of your soul and spirit. When you gave your life to Jesus, 1 Corinthians 3:16 tells us; ‘Don't you know that you yourselves are God's temple and that God's Spirit dwells in your midst?’

 Your spirit is the place of ‘Socoh’, you are now the LIVING tabernacle of Gods presence and Spirit. As you commune and worship with your Father and He dwells within you, He surrounds your soul with the strength of His walls, ‘Azekah’. Your soul is the foundation of ‘Ephes-Dammim’, it is the place of the pouring forth of the blood of Jesus that has covered and atoned for your sins. He has covered and poured forth His precious blood over every one of your sins. However, this sacred place of your soul is also the enemies primary target. Yes, you have been washed clean by His blood, but the enemy, just like the Philistines, attempts to set up camp in the very place of God’s presence within you to manipulate and enslave you there. How does he do it? He is a master of lies, he works in the opposite spirit of God’s strength of walls which are built on hope and he operates to set up a stronghold of fear. He implants his lies into your mind through circumstances and manipulative schemes, in order that he might jeopardize your relationship with the Father and imprison you within your own soul.

How is it that the enemy of your soul is able to defile the very place that God inhabits? As I said above, through lies, and it is the lies that we believe that will essentially ‘uncover’ us or make us vulnerable to his schemes. The name meaning of ‘Goliath’ is the key that ties this whole revelation together. His name literally means ‘uncovered.’ When you consider the tactics of Goliath, it is easy to recognize that the enemies schemes are no different. Day after day, Goliath called out to the Israelites and paralyzed them with fear through his taunts and threats of enslavement. The enemy taunts you in the same way, with paralyzing fear, which when we listen to these lies, we too become paralyzed and ‘uncovered’. He restricts you and enslaves you from living your life in the true powerful purpose and destiny that God designed for you. When your eyes are on the circumstances or even on yourself and the state of the problems you face, the strength of God’s wall that surrounds you is compromised.

David understood one thing though, this land belonged to Judah and the Philistines were defiling this sacred place of God. Judah means ‘Praise’, the enemy has no right to stay in your soul when you dedicate your soul as a place of worship and praise. David was overcome with a righteous anger to take back the Holy Place that the enemy was encamped in. Likewise, you need to realize that your heart and soul is that same Holy place in the eyes of God. I hear the violent roar of the Lion of Judah as He shakes the ground in righteous anger to take back what belongs to Him. Your soul and spirit belong to Him and He has come to reclaim what He paid for. if you have been enslaved by the enemy in any capacity, the lions ROAR is resounding forth OVER and THROUGH you in this hour, shaking up the strongholds of fear and lies that have tried to set up camp in your soul. 2 Corinthians 10:4 tells us, ‘For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds.’

You are being supernaturally strengthened to pick up your slingshot and stones of God’s Word to wage war against the enemy that has attempted to enslave you. As you worship the Father, taking your eyes off what you do not understand and lifting your eyes to Him, you are also running towards the enemy, slingshot in hand, ready to take him down. The Lion is roaring today, “RUN TOWARDS him with MY zealous and righteous anger.” Set your mind on the Father, for just as David knew, His strength was in God alone and he was able to swiftly take down Goliath RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE of his forehead. David struck him in this exact place the enemy in turn attempts to enslave us. It was a prophetic symbol of you, taking aim and bringing down the giants of fear in the place of your soul.

The lion of the Tribe of Judah is ROARING over you today and the giants heads will be cut off from before you. Your victory is SURE when you have God at your side!
